The Bridgwater Talking Newspaper began in April 2009 and is produced on tape, duplicated and distributed by post by Bridgwater Lions on a weekly basis to the blind and partially-sighted with content being taken from the Bridgwater Mercury and Bridgwater Times.
These are the main news items from the newspaper together with other items such as events, letters, hatchings, matchings and dispatchings etc. We will see what we can achieve but are delighted to provide the service. This is your newspaper, and we welcome your feed back.
On a monthly basis, we will include a magazine section on the second side of the tape which includes items of general interest, items especially of interest to the blind and partially-sighted, and of course your own input.
To record, distribute and return tapes does take longer than the week, and so we have made provision for additional tapes for circulation purposes. Whilst you should not worry if you are unable to return tapes to us promptly on some occasions, we would request that you return tapes sent to you as quickly as circumstances will allow. This obviously allows us to keep costs to a minimum.
Space will always be left on the reverse side of each tape for your comments, contributions and input. If you do record anything for our attention, please place an elastic band over the tape when you return it and we will look for your contribution.
